MINUTES OF THE BOTHENHAMPTON & WALDITCH PARISH COUNCIL MEETING HELD IN THE VILLAGE HALL, BOTHENHAMPTON ON MONDAY 9TH MAY 2005.

Present: Mr Stenning (Chairman), Mr Matthews, Mrs England MBE, Mrs Regan, Mr Harrison, Mr Dennis (left after item 2 of Democratic Half Hour), Mr Stubbs. In attendance: D. R. Barnes (Clerk)

1. APOLOGIES.

None

2. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING.

The minutes of the previous meeting held on 11th April 2005 having been circulated to all members were accepted as a true record of the meeting and duly signed.

3. MATTERS ARISING.

Item 13 - Play Areas. It was clarified that Mrs Sawyer, on behalf of the Walditch Village Play Area group, is authorised to purchase, at the parish council's expense, two sets of goal posts/nets, one set for the Walditch Play Area and one set for the Cemetery Field in Lower Walditch.

4. DEMOCRATIC HALF HOUR.

At 7.24pm the meeting was adjourned to enable members of the public to air their views on matters of local interest. At 7.35pm the meeting re-convened to complete the council's agenda, there being no further matters raised.

5. REPORT BY WDDC COUNCILLORS FOR BOTHENHAMPTON.

6. REPORT BY WDDC COUNCILLOR FOR WALDITCH, MR ROBERTS.

Mr Roberts informed the meeting that in the recent parliamentary election, West Dorset recorded the highest turn-out in the U.K.

Mrs Regan proposed these accounts should be paid. This was seconded by Mr Stenning and approved by all of the other councillors.

10. NEWSLETTER.

It was agreed that the same number of newsletters should be printed as last year, with the current areas of responsibility on the reverse side. Mrs Regan will organise distribution in Bothenhampton, Mr Stenning in Walditch. All proposed by Mrs Regan, seconded by Mr Stenning and agreed by all of the other councillors.

11. REQUESTS FOR GRANTS.

None.

12. PARISH MATTERS.

Footpaths & Roads - The clerk was instructed to chase up the repair of the steps from the high pavement on Main Street, Bothenhampton. Street
Play Areas - The clerk read out a response from the Walditch Village Play Area group in respect of its request for financial assistance for purchase of a bench seat and a table. Following a brief discussion, the clerk was instructed to find out what was paid to Groves for the seat purchased for the Valley View Amenity Area, by way of comparison. Valley View Amenity Area: Maintenance/planting of shrubbery to be discussed at the August 2005 meeting.
DAPTC - The clerk referred to the Chief Executive's Circular 07-05, which reminded councils of the indemnified advice the Association gives.

13. CORRESPONDENCE.

WDDC: Letter regarding West Bay Regeneration Project.

The next meeting will be held in Walditch Village Hall at 7.00pm on Monday, June 13th 2005.

There being no further business to discuss, the meeting closed at 8.12pm.
