MINUTES OF THE BOTHENHAMPTON & WALDITCH PARISH COUNCIL MEETING HELD IN THE VILLAGE HALL, WALDITCH ON MONDAY 5th JUNE 2006 AT 7 PM.

Present: Alan Stenning (Chair), Geoff Matthews (Vice Chairman), Mrs Dorothy England, Bob Dennis, David Stubbs. In attendance: Chris Dobbs (Clerk).

1. APOLOGIES.

Apologies were received from Ron Coatsworth DCC, Karl Wallace Parish Councillor.

2. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING.

The Minutes of the previous Meeting of Bothenhampton and Walditch Parish Council held on Monday 8th May were accepted as a true record of the Meeting and duly signed.

3. MATTERS ARISING.

Bob Dennis indicated that he was unable to attend the Highways Meeting on 20th July.

4. DEMOCRATIC HALF HOUR.

At 7.05 pm, the Meeting was adjourned to enable members of the public to air their views on matters of local interest. At 7.13 pm the meeting re-convened to complete the Council's agenda there being no further matters raised.

5. REPORT BY WDDC COUNCILLOR FOR BOTHENHAMPTON,

David Tett emphasised the concern of WDDC re the planned closure of village libraries, particularly Burton Bradstock. DCC want total savings of £20m over next 3 years, with £850,000 cut for library services. Parish Council to consider matter at next Meeting.

10. PARISH MATTERS.

Land Registry:-
i)Clerk instructed to arrange collection of deeds from Solicitor.
ii)To request that Land Registry staff initiate registration process for the four areas owned by Parish Council

DCC Road Markings & Playground Signs

DCC Highways confirmed that the central warning line and 'slow' road markings in Old Church Road adjacent to Briarswood House have now been ordered and should be in place within the next couple of months or so.

Re the signing of John Gundry Play Area.
A site meeting was arranged for Alan Stenning to meet David Gillett (from DCC Traffic and Safety Management), on Wednesday 21 June at 11.00 a.m.

11.CORRESPONDENCE

2.Letter distributed from Open Spaces Society - no action taken.

3.South West Regional Assembly. Questionnaire for distribution to Parish Councillors.

4.Spatial Strategy for SW. Distributed to Parish Councillors.

5.DAPTC Newsletter for May 2006 distributed to each Councillor.

6.Library Service - Clerk requested to draft a letter expressing concern re proposed closures.

7.Seminar on Highway Maintenance. No Parish Councillor able to attend on 20th July.

8.Letter from Oliver Letwin to Mrs Milson of Walditch who has concerns re overgrown strip of land adjacent to her bungalow. Peggy England to follow up informally in the first instance.

9.Information re Chairman's Seminar on 5 July 2006 passed on to Chairman.


The next Meeting will be held in Bothenhampton Village Hall on Monday 10 July commencing at 7.00 p.m.


There being no further business to discuss, the meeting closed at 8.15 pm.

MATTERS RAISED IN THE DEMOCRATIC HALF HOUR.

Concerns were expressed re

(1) Drain in Walditch Road.
(2) Entrance obscured by high hedge at junction of A35 and Walditch Road
(3) Hedge on land owned by WDDC needs trimming in Lower Walditch Road.

Discussion about Parish Plan for Bothenhampton and Walditch, and the need to find a person in each village to develop local research. John Ghay a local writer in Walditch was mentioned by a resident.

Dorset Trading Standards have put the cold calling scheme on the back burner - may be reviewed in the Autumn.
